Why Huawei Cloud?
1. CMHK's legacy Kubernetes clusters created using open-source components had poor usability and performance. The cloud platform was expected to standardize the development of upper-layer applications and provide diverse pre-integrated components.
2. CMHK is the largest local operator in Hong Kong (China). They needed a comprehensive data security hardening solution and innovative software and hardware to meet national compliance requirements. They also needed to ensure the security of mission-critical applications moved to the cloud.
3. The new cloud platform they looked for also needed to provide a broader range of on-premises advanced services that could elastically scale, so they could smoothly move both legacy and emerging applications to the cloud.
Solutions
- Huawei Cloud Stack, Empowering New Info Infrastructure for CMHK:
1. Cloud Container Engine (CCE) replaced open-source Kubernetes. The Huawei-developed Volcano scheduling engine enabled group and queue scheduling.
2. Containers can be automatically scaled within seconds to handle 10-times higher peak-hour traffic, which includes settlement, billing, and e-commerce services.
3. Security services, including Host Security Service (HSS) and Web Application Firewall (WAF), and industry-leading security operations solutions, such as asset management, vulnerability management, and intrusion detection, were provided.
