Backing Up Tiered Data to the Cloud
-
DR Drills
-
Archiving Local Data to the Cloud
Introduction
The service and backup systems are deployed in the enterprise data center, and service data is backed up to HUAWEI CLOUD. This solution eliminates upfront costs, facilitates system expansions, and enhances data reliability.
Introduction
The backup management server is deployed on the cloud, and the media server is deployed in the enterprise data center. This solution allows backup and restoration of data both locally and from the cloud.
Introduction
Service tests or drills can be conducted by restoring data from local or cloud backups. Afterwards, used resources can be released, reducing total cost of ownership (TCO).
You can use Image Management Service (IMS) to store service system images on the cloud. With these images, you can deploy a service system on the cloud and conduct service tests or drills without impacting ongoing production. Cloud backups can be used to restore the latest service data. After the tests or drills are complete, resources can be released to reduce TCO.
Data can be restored locally or from the cloud. To protect against unintentional deletion and viruses, data can be restored using local backups, and RTO can be cut down to minutes. To protect data against disasters such as earthquakes and tsunamis, a service system can be created on the cloud and data can be restored to the new service system, with an RTO of hours.
Introduction
Data is archived from the enterprise data center to HUAWEI CLOUD through a storage gateway, ensuring regulatory compliance. Compared with tape libraries, cloud storage delivers higher reliability and lower TCO.

Archiving Local Data to the Cloud
Description
Data is backed up from the enterprise data center, safeguarding data security. Cloud backup minimizes upfront costs, shortens expansion periods, and simplifies complicated O&M.
Highlights
Affordable: pay-per-use, which is 20% to 80% cheaper than deployment of private storage.
Efficient: deduplication and compression prior to transmission, shortening the backup window by 75%.
Secure: source-side encryption, in-flight encryption, and encrypted OBS storage.
Reliable: 99.999999999% durability, ensuring your data is always available.
Description
With two-level backup (enterprise data center + HUAWEI CLOUD), local restoration achieves minute-level RTO and cloud-based restoration protects against service outages during disasters.
Highlights
Reliable: Backup data is stored locally and on the cloud, ensuring your data is always available.
Economical: deduplication and compression prior to transmission, reducing the needed bandwidth.
Efficient: fine-grained restoration reduces RTO down to minutes.
Secure: source-side encryption, in-flight encryption, and encrypted OBS storage.
Description

Highlights
Reliable: 99.999999999% durability, ensuring your data is always available.
Economical: OBS Archive dramatically lowers TCO, eliminating device purchase and maintenance costs.
Secure: source-side encryption, HTTPS in-flight encryption, and encrypted OBS storage.
Maintenance-free: You are relieved from the troubles in hardware maintenance.
Solution Advantages
-
Minimized TCO
The pay-per-use storage option means zero upfront and maintenance costs. Two storage classes (Standard and Infrequent Access) help you keep costs down while ensuring access to data at appropriate speed. Data can be automatically moved among the two storage classes to facilitate storage cost control.
