Huawei Cloud Ranked No. 1 by Comprehensive Competitiveness in Emerging Asia-Pacific Big Data Markets

Nov 19, 2024

Recently, Frost & Sullivan released their Emerging Asia-Pacific Big Data Market Report 2024. According to this report, Huawei Cloud ranked No. 1 in terms of comprehensive competitiveness in emerging Asia-Pacific big data markets, thanks to its outstanding big data technologies and innovative approach to problem solving. In terms of sector-specific competitiveness, Huawei Cloud ranked No. 1 in the financial and carrier sectors, No. 2 in the government sector, and No. 3 in the Internet sector. In terms of market share, Huawei Cloud ranked No. 1 in Hong Kong (China), Thailand, and Bangladesh, No. 2 in the Philippines and Sri Lanka, and No. 3 in Singapore, Indonesia, and Malaysia.

This report evaluates big data service providers based on three key metrics: market applications, technology innovation, and customer services. The report confirms that Huawei Cloud provides more secure, advanced, and easy-to-use big data products through leading technologies such as intelligent data lakes, storage-compute decoupling, data lakehouses, stream-batch integration, and data–AI convergence. By providing localized services, Huawei Cloud helps emerging enterprises in the Asia-Pacific region improve their data development and governance capabilities, achieve intelligent service upgrade, and make decisions more efficiently. As a result, Huawei Cloud has become the go-to provider for many enterprises in this region.

As digital and intelligent transformations advance rapidly in the Asia-Pacific region, big data technologies are starting to play an increasingly important role in fields such as finance, telecom, Internet, and retail. They are important tools for improving enterprise operational efficiency, promoting business innovation, and delivering better user experiences. When processing diverse, heterogeneous, and fragmented data, enterprises face challenges such as poor data value mining, difficult real-time analysis, and relatively inefficient data management and utilization. In addition, enterprises that are growing rapidly urgently need more secure, stable, and reliable big data technologies to prevent data leakage and mitigate the risks faced during data transmission.

Huawei Cloud DataArts is an intelligent big data platform solution that is available both on a hybrid cloud (Huawei Cloud Stack) and public cloud. It consists of four layers: data + AI convergence engines, data + AI development and governance, knowledge services, and data + AI applications. It provides enterprises with cloud native, data lakehouses, and storage-compute decoupling services. The upgraded DataArts leverages Huawei's extensive data governance experience and the advanced Pangu models. It helps enterprises transform data into knowledge and efficiently build knowledge lakes, and enables business users and managers to use natural language interactions to easily collect, manage, and use data.

Data + AI convergence engines maximize the value of each bit of data: The data and AI computing platform offers the MapReduce Service (MRS), Data Lake Insight (DLI), GaussDB(DWS), LakeFormation, DataArts Fabric, Cloud Search Service (CSS), and Graph Engine Service (GES). Of these, MRS, DLI, and GaussDB(DWS) can be deployed on demand and integrated to evolve into a lakehouse architecture. Additionally, they can be used together with ModelArts (the Huawei Cloud AI development pipeline) to build a data–AI convergence solution. LakeFormation enables unified metadata and data security, and streamlines access between the data lake, data warehouse, and AI platform. DataArts Studio provides unified workflows for data and AI development. DataArts Fabric, a new data–AI convergence computing service, enables one-job data processing and AI computing, eliminating the need to repeatedly copy data and improving resource utilization threefold.

Data + AI development and governance make it easier to obtain high-quality data: The upgraded DataArts Studio provides one-stop intelligent data integration, data modeling, data development, quality management, asset management, data security, and data engineering. It features more than 60 built-in intelligent operators that can efficiently process all types of structured and unstructured data, including text, images, and videos. It can provide data for large models 10 times more efficiently.

Knowledge services make enterprise knowledge accessible to everyone: DataArts Studio provides knowledge lake services such as knowledge extraction, knowledge building, ontology modeling, digital and intelligent orchestration, and algorithm model management. These services improve the accuracy of model training and fine-tuning.

Data + AI applications enable enterprises to make decisions intelligently and more efficiently: This layer offers functions such as knowledge Q&A, knowledge insights, and intelligent decision-making. DataArts Insight and KooSearch help enterprises make decisions 100 times more efficiently.

DataArts (Huawei Cloud intelligent big data solution) provides a premium lake–warehouse–AI architecture

Thanks to Huawei's long-term investment in big data, Huawei Cloud now works with more than 800 partners and uses DataArts to serve customers in more than 60 countries and regions around the world. In Asia Pacific, Huawei Cloud DataArts provides a solid foundation for more than 150 enterprises. It facilitates digital transformation and intelligent upgrade in a wide range of industries in the region, including the government, finance, carrier, and Internet industries.

In the carrier field, Huawei Cloud is helping Telkomsel, the largest mobile carrier in Indonesia, build a unified high-performance big data platform. The platform supports cross-department collaboration and decision-making, enables the rapid expansion of Telkomsel One, and provides seamless network services for users.

In the finance field, Green Link Digital Bank (GLDB), the first digital bank in Singapore, uses Huawei Cloud's big data services such as MRS to build a digital bank that provides faster, more secure, and more intelligent financial services and products for micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) and high-tech companies in Singapore.

In the retail field, Siam Piwat, a leading real estate developer and retailer in Thailand, has chosen Huawei Cloud to support its omni-channel ONESIAM app. Siam Piwat uses Huawei Cloud GaussDB(DWS) as the data foundation to analyze customer preferences and identify effective ways to further improve customer experiences.

Sembcorp and Nestia in Singapore, Dadi Cinema in Hong Kong (China), KTC and SCB in Thailand, and Sunway in Malaysia are just a few of the other enterprises that have chosen to use Huawei Cloud DataArts to facilitate their digital and intelligent transformations.

In the future, Huawei Cloud will continue to innovate data–AI convergence services and technologies to help customers in Asia Pacific unleash the value of data, and will continue to work with partners and customers to promote the high-quality growth of the digital economy in Asia Pacific.
