Huawei Cloud Named as a Leader and Ranked No. 1 in the World for Its Container Services in Product Strategy and Execution

Nov 01, 2024

Recently, Huawei Cloud has been named as a global leader in the Omdia Universe: Cloud Container Management & Services, 2024–25. Huawei Cloud has ranked the top cloud provider in the world for its container services in product strategy and execution, showcasing its leadership in cloud native. This outstanding achievement is attributed to Huawei Cloud's extensive experience and strategic investment in Cloud Native 2.0.

According to the report, Huawei Cloud offers a comprehensive container service matrix.

·  Huawei Cloud has built an industry-leading hybrid multi-cloud converged infrastructure based on Ubiquitous Cloud Native Service (UCS). This infrastructure covers multiple scenarios, including public cloud, multiple clouds, edge clouds, and on-premises deployment, providing strong support for developers and platform engineers.

·  Huawei Cloud offers two serverless container products, Cloud Container Engine (CCE) Autopilot and Cloud Container Instance (CCI), which excel in scalability and startup speed, enabling users to enjoy amazing elasticity and easily handle surges of up to 10 times the normal traffic.

·  In the Artificial Intelligence Generated Content (AIGC) era, cloud native has become a solid foundation for AI compute, and Huawei Cloud CCE Turbo provides users with strong cloud native AI compute based on Ascend compute.

·  Huawei Cloud's continuous contributions in the open-source field have been recognized, including contributing multiple core projects such as KubeEdge, Volcano, and Karmada to Cloud Native Computing Foundation (CNCF) and continuously providing innovative projects such as Kuasar and Kmesh, demonstrating its extensive influence around the world.

Huawei Cloud has consistently pursued globalization, investing heavily in global storage and compute capabilities. Today, Huawei Cloud operates 93 availability zones across 33 geographical regions, serving customers in more than 170 countries and regions. As cloud native takes center stage in digital transformations, Huawei Cloud is expanding its container services globally to empower enterprises to unleash their full digital productivity. The demand for cloud-native computing has skyrocketed, with Huawei Cloud containers boasting an impressive compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of over 70% in the past three years.

In China, Huawei Cloud container services have gained widespread adoption among top enterprises, including 80% of the country's top 100 Internet companies, 75% of state-owned banks and national joint-stock banks, 75% of the top 20 energy companies, and 90% of the top 30 automotive companies. These organizations have relied on cloud-native technologies to drive their digital transformations. For example, in the financial sector, cloud native has become a crucial technology for upgrading to new, distributed banking systems. The Agricultural Bank of China (ABC), for instance, leveraged Huawei Cloud containers to develop a cloud-native infrastructure that provides its application systems with high elasticity, high availability, automation, and observability. This infrastructure has enabled the transformation of core service systems into distributed architectures, supporting the bank's massive user base of 800 million individuals. Additionally, the bank has successfully migrated and reconstructed 1.8 billion individual accounts, with daily peak transaction volumes exceeding 1.9 billion. Cloud-native integration with AI compute and intelligent scheduling supports smart banking initiatives.

In Europe, Huawei Cloud has worked with partners to serve over 3,000 enterprises, establishing 1,000 local partnerships along the way. These partnerships have helped European businesses accelerate their digital and intelligent transformations. One notable success story is the partnership with DeFacto, a leading clothing retailer in Türkiye. By leveraging CCE Turbo clusters, DeFacto has developed streamlined and agile service processes. Abdurrahman Kılınç, DeFacto's CIO, stated, "Our collaboration with Huawei Cloud not only increased our operational efficiency but also elevated our customer experience. With Huawei Cloud's scalable cloud-native infrastructure and innovative cloud solutions on CCE Turbo, we managed real-time traffic fluctuations seamlessly, even during peak online shopping periods, delivering top-tier performance. As DeFacto continues to expand its global footprint, the support from Huawei Cloud is invaluable to us."

In the Middle East, Huawei Cloud has made significant strides since 2023, offering industry-leading reliability and network latency. One notable beneficiary of this expansion is Starzplay, the region's second-largest streaming platform. By leveraging CCI, a serverless compute service, Starzplay was able to deploy and manage containerized applications without worrying about underlying infrastructure. According to Pankaj Sharma, Director at Starzplay, "Huawei Cloud provides us with highly innovative, reliable, and scalable services. The ultra-fast scalability of Huawei Cloud CCI ensures smooth streaming of high-quality traffic during the World Cup, enabling us to effortlessly manage traffic spikes ranging from millions, to even billions, of requests. The serverless digital transformation has also improved our R&D and operational efficiency."

In Asia Pacific, Huawei Cloud is experiencing rapid growth and has established itself as a top partner for digital transformations. A prime example of this success can be seen in Ninja Van, a leading logistics provider in Singapore. Its CTO Shaun Chong shared, "We have fully containerized our services and operated them on Huawei Cloud CCE and CCI. This has enabled the development of a cost-effective, cloud-native AI architecture that allows us to swiftly adapt to changing market conditions and maintain our leadership position in the AI space."

In Latin America, Huawei Cloud boasts the largest geographic presence among cloud service providers. The company is actively promoting digital transformations across various sectors, including finance, media, retail, logistics, and Internet. A notable example of this success is SMU, Chile's second-largest supermarket retailer, which fully migrated its core systems to Huawei Cloud. SMU is now poised to accelerate omni-channel business innovation through a cloud-native upgrade.

In Africa, Huawei Cloud remains committed to its "In Africa, For Africa" philosophy, empowering local partners and customers across the continent. With over 300 partners in southern Africa operating in education, healthcare, retail, and mining, Huawei Cloud is developing tailored industry solutions for local businesses. Meanwhile, in northern Africa, Huawei Cloud is the fastest-growing cloud service provider and a key partner for government and enterprise digital transformations. To date, the company has served more than 20 government and enterprise customers, with local service teams established in over 10 northern African countries.

Huawei Cloud will continue to collaborate with global operators to drive innovation in cloud-native technologies and share its successes. This collaboration will accelerate industry transformations like never before, providing new possibilities for a more inclusive, accessible, and resilient digital society.
