Huawei Cloud's Global Growth

In 2023, Huawei Cloud achieved a remarkable global sales revenue of CNY55.3 billion, solidifying its position as one of the fastest-growing cloud vendors worldwide. Internationally, Huawei Cloud's public cloud services revenue saw a staggering 110% year-on-year increase.

The company's ongoing expansion of its global cloud infrastructure, KooVerse, now spans 33 geographical Regions and 93 Availability Zones (AZs), ensuring a seamless, one-hop cloud experience for customers across over 170 countries and regions. Progress has also been made in upper-layer cloud services, industry-specific AI models, and local ecosystems.

Pangu Models: AI for Industries, AI for Science

Mr. Dong also highlighted Huawei Cloud Pangu Models 3.0, an industry-specific AI model series built on a 5+N+X three-layer architecture.

The L0 layer provides five foundation models: NLP, CV, multimodality, prediction, and scientific computing. The second layer L1 contains models for N industries, including government affairs, finance, manufacturing, mining, and meteorology. The L2 layer provides off-the-shelf models for specific industry scenarios and tasks.

In the financial field, Pangu provides financial institutions with model services such as intelligent assistant and financial anomaly analysis. Huawei Cloud has collaborated with over 150 partners and 200 customers, implementing more than 30 industry-specific models and over 400 AI use cases.

Systematic Innovations in an Intelligent Cloud Foundation for Finance

Huawei Cloud's distributed QingTian architecture represents a significant step forward in compute diversity, offering a full-mesh interconnection of resources and transcending traditional physical and technological limitations in compute, storage, and networking.

The company's MetaStudio and CodeArts are testaments to its commitment to enhancing digital content production and software development, respectively. MetaStudio provides capabilities such as virtual human generation, video generation, video translation, and video-to-animation to redefine digital content productivity. CodeArts enables one-stop, full-process, secure, and trusted software development, making coding faster and easier.

With security, stability, and quality at the forefront, Huawei Cloud has established a robust "zero trust" security framework consisting of one security center and seven layers of defense, achieving over 140 global security compliance certifications. The company's global network of over 2,000 SRE (Site Reliability Engineering) engineers ensures round-the-clock security and stability.

A resilient, agile, and intelligent financial cloud foundation is essential to innovation and transformation, and Huawei Cloud is built for this purpose.

Building Resilience in the Financial Industry

Alex Zhao, General Manager of Global Finance at Huawei Public Cloud, addressed the challenges facing the financial industry, including the rise of ransomware attacks and the complexities of diversified services and O&M. He stressed the importance of rebuilding financial resilience and outlined Huawei Cloud's strategy to assist the industry in constructing a six-layer resilience architecture.

At the application layer, Huawei Cloud introduces a finance-centric full-lifecycle application resilience framework that streamlines O&M and disaster recovery (DR) operations. This approach, featuring assessment, diagnosis, fault injection, and drills, achieves a seconds-level recovery time objective (RTO).

At the data layer, the GaussDB high availability (HA) solution ensures strong data consistency and swift failover, with an RTO of less than 60 seconds, ensuring minimal to no application downtime.

At the computing layer, leveraging a distributed cloud-native architecture, Huawei Cloud's Ubiquitous Cloud Native Service (UCS) offers cross-cloud multi-cluster management and enables migration of faulty clusters in just seconds.

At the storage layer, Huawei Cloud provides comprehensive anti-ransomware capabilities, with backup six times faster and restore three times faster than peer vendors.

At the resource management layer, Landing Zone provides lean IT governance that boosts security and scalability.

At last, Huawei Cloud's deterministic operations solution builds a proactive system, converting the inherent uncertainty in rapidly growing customer services into deterministic service level objectives (SLOs), reducing fault recovery time by tenfold compared to the industry average.

Mainframe Modernization and Accelerated Transformation

Johnny Lyu, CTO of Huawei Hybrid Cloud for International Business, delivered a keynote speech, "Mainframe Modernization, Transforming Financial Core Systems Faster", which highlighted the Huawei Mainframe Modernization solution. This solution provides cloud-hardware synergy, more dependable processes, and innovative scenario-specific solutions to help financial customers modernize their core systems.

Huawei Cloud offers foundational technologies and implements cloud native RAS2P based on high-availability cloud software, ensuring 99.999% availability on the cloud. The solution also provides five-stage financial-grade support from top-level design consulting, low-level design (LLD), integration enablement, performance optimization, to O&M. Additionally, Huawei Cloud offers four baseline modernization solutions for infrastructure, applications, data, and O&M, which can be customized and assembled to achieve flexible evolution.

Unleashing Data Value with GaussDB(DWS)

At the forum, banking industry representatives discussed their collaboration with Huawei Cloud on a next-generation financial data warehouse platform using GaussDB(DWS). As the industry demands hitless, swift service migration in one go, Huawei Cloud proposed an innovative scheme, unifying processes and automating migration tools, to ensure stable, efficient migration to GaussDB(DWS). The new open architecture excels at scalability, performance, security, and reliability. Post-migration, the platform enhances operational efficiency, integrates R&D and O&M into the bank's DataOps system, and supports the strategic transformation to digital and intelligent banks.
