Huawei Named in 2023 Gartner Peer Insights™ 'Voice of the Customer 'for Cloud Database Management Systems

Huawei Cloud was named as a Customers' Choice vendor for 2023 on Gartner Peer Insights™ 'Voice of the Customer' for Cloud Database Management Systems. Huawei Cloud becomes the world's only cloud service vendor (CSP) who was named as a Customers' Choice in this market.

Peer Insights reviewers in this report (89 reviewers) gave us a 4.8 out of 5 rating, with 98% saying they would recommend our database management products. Huawei Cloud's products are popular among global end users for their easy deployment, large-scale commercial capabilities, and service quality.

The following comments from Huawei Cloud's customers in Gartner Peer Insights:

A key account manager from a bank said: "Our company is a provider of open source database solutions and data processing technologies. However, distributed database reconstruction is relatively weak. To meet the needs of business expansion, we chose to cooperate with Huawei Cloud Database to jointly build distributed database solutions for manufacturing and finance industries. Based on the jointly constructed distributed database, the data platform is customized based on the customer's specific scenarios. This helps customers solve problems such as excessive coupling between services and databases and inconvenient data utilization. In addition, the existing database performance bottleneck is broken, and data processing and management are implemented effectively."

A commercial director in the software industry said: "We use MRS to build a one-stop users profile for the accurate customer marketing, and it saves a lot time and cost, improves customer experience greatly."

A civil servant from a software development department said: "The business database of our integrated financial platform was built based on GaussDB(DWS), helping us comprehensively monitor core service and manage the data of an entire province in a centralized manner. GaussDB is an enterprise-grade, distributed relational database from Huawei Cloud. It provides reliable, high performance, and scalable database services for finance, government, and enterprise customers. It has been adopted by major banks in China, such as Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (ICBC) and Postal Savings Bank of China (PSBC), as well as joint-stock banks, and insurance securities companies. PSBC uses GaussDB to process 2 billion transactions per day and 67,000 transactions per second during peak hours for more than 650 million individual customers at more than 40,000 branches.

GaussDB(DWS) is an enterprise-grade data warehouse service and comes in three types: standard data warehouse, real-time data warehouse, and IoT data warehouse. It has been used for analysis and decision-making systems in industries such as automobile, manufacturing, retail, logistics, Internet, government, and telecom. By the first quarter of 2023, GaussDB(DWS) had served up to 66.7% state-owned banks and joint-stock banks in China and is the No. 1 database in the on-premises financial data warehouse market. China Merchants Bank (CMB) migrated its data warehouses last year. They proposed a strategy called, "data analysis for everyone", and built the first large-scale financial cloud data warehouse in China based on Huawei Cloud GaussDB(DWS). Batch processing is 2 hours faster than before, and the queries take 75% less time.

MapReduce Service (MRS) provides Hadoop-based high-performance big data components, such as Hudi, ClickHouse, Spark, Flink, Kafka, and HBase for data lakes, data warehouses, business intelligence (BI), AI, and more. MRS has become a preferred big data solution for enterprise and government customers. MRS has been chosen by 80% of the top 60 financial customers and 70% of the top 50 Internet customers. Using MRS, ICBC built the largest single big data cluster in the industry, with a total of more than 4,000 nodes, supporting over 200 applications. ICBC improved data analysis efficiency by 50 times by leveraging the MRS HetuEngine data virtualization engine. This makes it possible to deliver real-time BI experience for 13,000 ICBC analysts.

As industries are increasingly going digital, enterprises are facing complex business challenges and have higher requirements on cloud database management systems.
