Huawei Cloud CTO Bruno Zhang: Accelerate Intelligence with Cloud Leap

Mar 03, 2025

[Barcelona, Spain, March 3, 2025] At the Huawei Product & Solution Launch 2025 during MWC Barcelona 2025, Bruno Zhang, Huawei Cloud CTO, delivered a keynote speech titled "Accelerate Intelligence with Cloud Leap," showcasing how Huawei Cloud empowers carriers to accelerate cloud adoption and intelligence, transforming them from traditional Telcos to Techcos.

In today's fast-paced market, carriers face significant challenges in meeting the demands of B2B, B2C, and B2H businesses, which require large-scale, high-reliability, flexible, multi-tenant, and multi-service capabilities. According to Bruno Zhang, upgrading traditional IT architectures to cloud native infrastructure is crucial to addressing these issues.

Huawei Cloud Stack mirrors the architecture, APIs, and ecosystem of Huawei's public cloud, providing efficient, convenient, and reliable solutions for migrating from virtualization platforms – a critical step in carriers' transition to Techco.

Huawei Cloud introduced CloudDC solution, the first solution allowing carriers to access over 30 Tier 3+ data center resources worldwide. This innovative offering delivers deterministic operations, enabling fault detection within one minute, location identification within five minutes, and resolution within 15 minutes. Carriers maintain full-link observability and control over their assets. Notably, CloudDC is the only solution in the industry providing full-stack resources on the cloud, encompassing compute, storage, and networking. In comparison to building their own data centers, carriers can achieve a tenfold efficiency boost with CloudDC. Furthermore, CloudDC is the exclusive solution offering full-stack AI from data center levels 0 to 3, facilitating carriers to expedite the construction of AI compute centers from years to mere months. By leveraging CloudDC, carriers can keep their own assets, ensure compliance, and reap the benefits of cloud-based efficiency, flexibility, and security.

As more carriers recognize the importance of intelligent upgrades in transitioning to the cloud, Bruno Zhang emphasizes that establishing a cloud foundation is merely the starting point. Next, they must build a next-generation data foundation, with foundation models serving as the core of these AI capabilities.

Databases form the backbone of a carrier's service systems. Huawei Cloud GaussDB achieves superior performance, reliability, and intelligence through its three-layer pooling architecture, innovative intra-city dual-cluster disaster recovery solution, and AI assistant, ensuring efficient and stable operation of carriers' service systems.

Huawei Cloud DataArts Studio, a data governance pipeline, has evolved into an AI-driven data foundation centered on knowledge, rather than data. This enables seamless conversion from data to knowledge and experience, supporting end-to-end intelligence and empowering enterprises to unlock the value of their data, operate intelligently, and make informed decisions.

An increasing number of companies are exploring foundational models. However, their valuable data and industry expertise remain untapped within current foundational models. According to Bruno Zhang, to maximize the value of these valuable data assets, companies must develop their own AI models. Huawei Cloud not only provides foundation models like Pangu but also offers the AI development pipeline, ModelArts, to assist customers in creating and applying AI models. Furthermore, Huawei Cloud provides methodologies and professional services to help companies integrate their data into foundation models and train them into customized ones. This solution has yielded remarkable results, with over 400 successful use cases across more than 30 industries worldwide.

To effectively serve businesses, consumers, and homes, carriers require a robust ecosystem and expertise in cloud operations, according to Bruno Zhang.

Huawei Cloud offers the Cloud Device solution, which comprises products like KooPhone, Cloud STB, and Cloud Gaming. By leveraging cloud capabilities, this solution enables device-cloud synergy for multi-computing, multi-OS devices. Cloud Device boasts industry-leading 60 ms low latency, zero buffering, and rapid startup times of mere seconds, reducing cloud migration periods from months to just days. As a result, carriers can unlock increased traffic, significantly boost user data usage (DOU), and enhance customer loyalty in both consumer and home markets.

Today, livestreaming and AI applications are experiencing explosive growth. Real-time interactive experience brings new challenges to the latency, bandwidth, and security of carrier networks. To address these challenges, Huawei Cloud provides Cloud Media Edge, a service that accelerates edge processing, empowers edge computing, and fortifies edge security for a seamless cloud-network synergy. This results in higher-definition, lower-latency experiences for real-time interactions.

In addition to providing technical support, Huawei Cloud offers comprehensive ecosystem development and operations management solutions. With over 8,000 partners registered on the Huawei Cloud KooGallery and more than 12,000 offerings released, carriers can instantly access a vast array of high-quality ecosystem resources via standardized APIs. Furthermore, Huawei provides the Cloud on Cloud solution, encompassing consulting, end-to-end operations, and one-stop migration capabilities, allowing carriers to rapidly establish their own cloud services.

"By sharing a thriving ecosystem and innovative services, Huawei Cloud aims to assist carriers in transitioning from traditional communications businesses to a broader digital service domain. This transformation will drive business growth, expand market reach, and capitalize on new opportunities for intelligent upgrades," stated Bruno Zhang.
